While I have always thought of EMD as being really good at aesthetics, the boxy notch-nose doesn't seem to quite fit. What do you think of the SD70ACe? Most of the time that is still the case. However, when a little variety sneaks in, it is always a welcome treat. They were expecting a dusting with less than one inch. I wasn't complaining though as the snow blowing off the cars of this MNYRO make for a nice effect as the train knocks down the signal at east Leyden. I recall my dad taking a picture from near this location in the late 70s of a westbound DRGW coal empty that had six Tunnel Motors on the point! Time marches on... At Tennyson Street, the train will be relieved by a new crew that will cut out the swing helpers and tie the train down on Bypass Main 1. The classic Grande signals still stand at east Leyden. Based on this picture, it is not hard to understand why replacing the signals is necessary. This signal is in fact displaying a red over yellow (Diverging Approach) indication as the approaching MNYRO is taking the siding.
