When EMD first released the SD60, they were given numbers with an "EMD" prefix. EMD 3 is one of the original SD60s that was first introduced in 1985. It was running as the last unit on the MDENLAU (Denver, CO to Laurel, MT) on BNSF's Front Range Subdivision.
