At the start of the S-Curve on the north side of Big Ten Loop, the westbound Zephyr climbs toward the wind break hoppers located on the inside of the curve atop Big Ten. These hoppers have now been here for 50 years, helping provide protection from trains from the 70+ MPH winds that can come swooping down off the mountains.
