UP 1989 Runs in Daylight
News Story Posted By Kevin (Click Name To Email)
Monday, October 16, 2006 - This past Saturday, UP 1989 (Search Photo Gallery) departed Pueblo, CO a bit later than normal. Delays encountered in route from Pueblo to Denver resulted in the MPUNY (the train the Heritage Unit was running on) to be stopped in the siding at Monument.

The delay at Monument, which started around 6am, led to the crew running short on hours and a new crew had to be called to take the train further north. Around 11:30am, the train finally departed north out of the siding.

Although it was overcast outside, it was nice to hear that UP 1989 (Search Photo Gallery) was going to add some miles in the daylight. I hung out in the Denver area and waited for the train to show up. When the train arrived, it turned out that 1989 was the trailing unit (of three), but regardless, I wasn't going to complain.

I got a few shots of the train as it was moving north through Fox Junction and into North Yard. You can view pictures of UP 1989 (Search Photo Gallery) (as well as shots from the rest of the day) by clicking this link.
