UP 1616 and UP 1776 are the two diesels along to help brake for this journey. While the fresh paint on UP 1776 looks amazing and clean, sure wish the unit was painted up in a scheme more representative of the United States 250th birthday. It will then return east to Cheyenne before departing east on Memorial Day for Washington DC to celebrate the United States Semiquincentennial (250th birthday). The flag that UP added to the long hood, when not properly maintained, can get pretty ragged. In the case of this SD70ACe, it has been largely burned off the long hood. At least, until this morning! An eastbound UP intermodal, with four units on the point, emerges from the tunnel on Main 1. The lead unit is a Tier-4 ET44AC.
