While waiting for UP 4014 to depart from Laramie, this westbound ballast train came blasting through with some colorful red and silver ballast cars. An SD70M led the way west.

Just east of Laramie, UP 4014 and train are slowing on Main 3 as they prepare to stop on Main 1 at the Laramie Depot for a mechanical stop of about 45 minutes. The clouds are slowly starting to roll in from the west.

On a windy September morning, UP 4014 leads a 10-car passenger train west on Main 3 between Tie Siding and Laramie. Between Tie Siding and Laramie, Mains 1 and 2 follow a very different grade from Main 3. Main 3 has a steeper grade, so it is generally not used by heavier trains.
