UP 4014 crosses over a creek bed on a wooden trestle a couple of miles east of Kit Carson. Once reaching Kit Carson, the train will make the first of two scheduled maintenance stops on the trip west to Denver. In the wide open plains, there is a nice little bunch of trees here at the trestle.

Welcome to Colorful Colorado! A lot of traffic on US-40 crosses from Kansas into Colorado in pursuit of UP 4014 and train. In addition to road traffic, the train even attracted a handful of planes, including one that you can just see above and slightly to the left of the bayside caboose.
