The Big Boy special hit a few delays getting out of Cheyenne, and again at Dale Jct. That turned out to work well here at Lower Pine Ridge as the sun had made it a bit further west in the sky, allowing for some really nice light as the train skirts the rock formations on the way west on Main 1.

There are some really cool rock formations 30 or so miles west of Laramie on UP's Overland. I thought the rocks might make for a cool subject in a shot that include UP 4014 and train on its journey west. Now that we are west of Laramie, the special is running on Main 1 as it passes through a double crossover here at CP W601, not far east of Rock River, WY.
