There is a certainly amount of dark irony in the advertised "Rapid Discharge" on the side of one of the hoppers. Surprisingly, it appears that most of the coal stayed in that particular hopper. A broken wheel on this coal train caused 25-30 cars to derail on the west switch at Hudson. Most of the derailed cars fell over (and some appeared to be banged up well beyond repair), but a few of the derailed cars stayed upright. There was quite a bit of it laying on the ground at the west switch of Hudson after this westbound BNSF coal load derailed. There were no injuries and no engines were involved. The derailment did, however, take out the west switch at Hudson as well as the eastbound signal. Crews definitely have their work cut out for them!
