As you are viewing the photo gallery, note this picture as it might be my last from the Boulder siding for quite some time! Six days after this shot was taken, my office (in Boulder) moved to a new office (in Westminster), taking away my need from being in Boulder on a daily basis.

Steve, I thought the exact same thing when I first saw the train coming at me. I figured a brake shoe was sticking or something like that. Turns out, the hopper is carrying a white substance (talc, probably), and a bit of the dust was bouncing out the bottom of the hopper and generating a nice brake-smoke-like effect! You have a good eye to notice that though!

I see brake smoke coming off the hoppers. The grades are sure steep enough to use up the brakes, along with the air to charge them.
