If you've ever wondered why BNSF doesn't run coal trains from the Power River Basin down to the Joint Line via the Front Range Sub, this is without a doubt just one of many reasons why. This is the mainline through Longmont. Trains roll through here very slowly, blocking traffic at nearly 20 crossing as they go through. The Longmont Depot - still used by BNSF - is seen on the right.
