This was as far west as we chased the train. So it seems rather fitting that this is where I managed to get my favorite shot of the day! After its stop in Rawlins, UP 844 and train are pulling down the west lead, "downtown" visible in the background.

That is a great "timeless" shot! The only thing that would tip you off that it's the 21st century is the helper unit behind the second tender.
