Since Colorado is a fairly arid climate, this level of "green" doesn't last too terribly long. So I get out to take pictures as much as possible! On my way home from work, I caught this short work train which was headed for Bond. It is on the main at Leyden, running on clear signals.

The problem with that is it makes sense.

They are a bit flashy for a work train, aren't they? Of course they couldn't have used one of these on the Ski Train last Friday! The flared SD70M is my favorite six axle unit since the Tunnel Motors.

Nice! Always cool to catch these little movements. That's a *lotta* horsepower for a half-dozen cars, eh? BTW it seems like these flared-radiator SD70s get used in work train service a lot. You'd think they would use something a little less flashy, and pricey-- say, some old Rio Grande geeps or something? :-)
