Whoops! That's gonna leave a mark. The handbrake on this covered hopper failed to get set. The hopper was on the BNSF Golden Branch (that leads to Coors) and ended up rolling east down the line! It was going roughly 45 MPH when it hit the switch at C&S Junction and derailed. What looks like snow in the foreground are actually little plastic (non-toxic) beads, which the hopper was carrying.

Thats twice now! 10 or so years ago a tank "left" the Jolly Rancher plant and silently rolled right through the Arvada Harvest Festival on a Saturday night at 40 some MPH! No horn, no lights, YIKES. Its a wonder no one was harmed. And once again the switch at C & S Jct. was the final resting place.
