A westbound coal load works its way through the sweeping curve just below Tunnel 29. Many a shot of a Rio Grande train was once taken here...unfortunately, the trees have grown enough that they largely obscure the view now.

Nice shot! It's getting increasingly difficult to find a clear view of this curve--however, if you climb up the hillside to the right of the tracks, and scale the hill to the rock outcrop above the second unit, you have a fantastic view of Tunnel 29, the 12-degree curve, Old Tunnel 28, and Tunnel 27 as well. A great perch for tight time exposures, too.
