Once coal trains arrive in Denver, their mid-train swing helpers need to be cut out before the trains continue east toward the Limon Sub and the great plains. Here, the front half of the train has been pulled forward beyond the signals of the Pecos Crossover. Now, hostlers from North Yard have a low yellow (diverging approach) signal and will crossover from Main 2 to Main 3 and take the power to the yard for servicing. In the distance, the Pecos Street overpass is nearing completion!
