Just a short distance west of the west switch of Mesa, construction on a new overpass for EMU commuter rail is making progress. Once complete, this bridge will be nearly 5,000 feet long! It is here that the commuter rail will leave the UP right of way and swing north, crossing the track, Airport Blvd, 32nd Avenue and I-70. This 22.8 mile long line from Union Station to Denver International Airport is scheduled to open in 2016.

You are actually 100% correct. I've learned quite a bit about the distinctions between light rail and EMU commuter rail today. I've also never been an expert on commuting-by-rail, but I am starting to understand it much better! I've updated the captions accordingly.
Kevin, My understanding is that the Union Station/DIA line is NOT light rail. I have seen/heard it referred to as "commuter rail" or "heavy rail" but not as light rail. Found this video "RTD's First Commuter Rail Cars Tested" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uD0B_gJa2f8 at YouTube. They appear to be bigger and heavier than the light rail cars currently in service. I am no expert on the subject and could certainly be wrong about this.
