There is a lot of controversy over whether or not UP's application of the American flag on its units is a good thing or a bad thing. While I don't care to get in to such a debate here on my website, I would like to point out that I do personally appreciate the effort that a UP employee made to clean the flag on the side of this somewhat dingy ES44AC.

Thanks for the pic! I enjoy the US flag anywhere I see it and applaud UP for doing it. It does also add a splash of color to somewhat bland looking locos these days. The big box units that are prevalent these days tend to look drab in one color. Keep posting those pics! Thanks. Chris Green
