As of this picture, there were only 11 unpatched Espee units left on UP's roster. All the remaining had been patched, repainted, or retired. I actually caught this same unit exactly one month earlier on the tail end of an eastbound oil train. Good to see if hanging out in Colorado!

Agreed! That sure would have been nice. Unfortunately, the last Rio Grande unit (unpatched/unpainted) on UP's roster was 5371, retired in 2009.

To bad some of the Rio Grande units could have lasted as long as these have, unpatched or unpainted.
