Most every year, Union Pacific will send an engineering special over a good portion of its system so the brass can see how things are running, check on projects, etc. The train will frequently run over the former Rio Grande, and the summer of 2015 was no exception. The train left Grand Junction at 7am on July 22 and absolutely flew east toward Denver. I got this picture of the train coming through Leyden three minutes before 1pm. After a brief crew change in Denver, the train headed north up the Greeley Sub and stopped in South Morrill, NE for the night.
