Everyone in the Denver-Metro area woke up to a fresh blanket of snow and chilly temperatures on this Friday morning! The westbound Zephyr cruises west on the main at Leyden, kicking up some of the fresh power. If you look closely, you might note that the frog has been removed from the house track switch. By doing this, UP does not have to pay taxes on the house track! (Don't ask me...I'm no tax expert!)

Hey Jim! Yep, that is one of the new baggage cars that Amtrak took delivery of in 2015. Among other things, they are climate controlled. I think it is interesting that they are all painted in a Phase III scheme.

Nice shot! What's that baggage car? I heard something about Amtrak building some new ones. Very odd profile to my eye to see on a western train...
