After getting a few shots of the West Local at East Leyden, a track inspector with track and time briefly stopped the local at West Leyden and gave me enough time to get over to the bridge over Indiana Street. A trio of GP40-2s take a single tank car west. So why so much power for a single car? On other days of the week, this same power is used on the South Local. That local usually has decent tonnage and merits the three units. Rather than break up the units when the West Local runs, it is easier to simply keep them together.
