For the first time since 2013, UP 844 (the 4-8-4 Northern steam engine) led the Cheyenne Frontier Days train. The engine spent the last few years undergoing a number of repairs. Whether or not some of those repairs were necessary is a matter of debate, and not one I'm going to get in to here as my knowledge of steam engines is virtually non-existent. Regardless, the steam team got the engine up and running for Frontier Days 2016, and it was a great sight (and sound).

Great location with 844 doing what she does best-run off the miles in style! Your photo location was sweet with none of the 1,000's of folks that were track side.
