The California Zephyr rolls through scenic Byers Canyon at 25 MPH. There are multiple slide fences throughout Byers Canyon. These fences protected the tracks from falling rocks. And, if a large rock breaks one of the wires, the dispatcher is notified and signals around the break drop to restricting.
