Three units lead an eastbound oil train through a snow February scene, approaching the west switch of Rocky. There is a westbound empty in the siding at Rocky, so UP 5919 has its headlights dimmed so as not to blind the crew on the westbound.

These 11 brilliant Kevin Morgan photographs taken on 2-11-2025, tell a great story. UP 5919 is descending on the longest (3,045') constructed curve between Denver and Winter Park. It was built in 1903 as a compound 3°L, 1°L, 8°L curve between Little Ten Horseshoe (between 90° and 180°) Curve and Big Ten Muleshoe (more than 180°) Curve. The track crossing the fill across 'Wagner's Saddle' in the upper right background is about 118' higher than and about 2,100' from UP 5919. 'Wagner's Saddle' is on the east end of the 8°R curve leading to the Fireclay siding. This siding, built in the spring of 1937, does not have a slack (typically 1%) grade as Horace A. Sumner would have engineered and built in 1902-3.
