While UP's Main 3 (between Speer and Dale Jct) does have four siding on it, it is almost exclusively used by westbounds as it has a lesser grade than the original grade that Mains 1 and 2 follow. Main 3 is several miles longer than Mains 1 and 2, but the lesser grade is worth the added distance. Main 3 was opened in 1953, nearly a century after the original line. Since UP 4014 is currently running eastbound (and down grade), like most other trains, it is on Main 1 this afternoon between Granite and Buford.
