When Guernsey yard was original built by the CB&Q around 1900, it was west of current US-26 and consisted of a half dozen or so yard tracks. Fast-forward to 1980, and with Burlington Northern's construction of the Orin Sub in the Powder River Basin, BN built a new east yard on the other side of US-26. This is that east yard, designed to handle dozens of unit coal trains each day. You can see three eastbound coal loads and a westbound empty in the yard in this shot.
