This is quite possibly one of the saddest (former) Espee units I've ever seen. This SD40M-2 was delivered to Missouri Pacific in January 1970. It was rebuilt by MK Rail and went to Southern Pacific (as SP 8634) in May 1994. It made it to the Union Pacific roster and was "patched" as UP 2710 on October 17, 2003. However, it was eventually retired and sold, now belonging to Dieselmotive Company. The paint scheme is so faded, it is not even scarlet and gray! It is white and gray now.
