On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the Canyon Spirit struck a semi-trailer tanker truck carrying road oil in Rifle, CO. The collision took both of the Canyon Spirit GP40-3s out of service. For about five months, they sat in UP's 36th Street Yard, allegedly waiting for insurance to figure things out. Was good to see that a crew is now working on RMRX 8020. The nose is largely missing, as are some of the hand rails on the long hood.
