Sunday, December 4, 2005 - This past weekend was a good one! I was able to get trackside both Saturday and Sunday and there were some good things to be seen. Last Friday night (December 2), a major snow storm moved through the Denver area and left some great scenery behind when the sun came up Saturday morning. My dad and I went west on the Moffat for a few hours and got shots of three trains. I posted five pictures from the day, including two from the MNYRO climbing up and around Big Ten.
Then, on Sunday, my daughter and I went out for a few hours in the morning to see what was out in the Denver area. There some good shots to be had, including a BN (well, now patched BNSF) SD9 switching the 38th street yards down in Denver. Also got some pictures of the remains of Sandown Junction, where the Rock Island used to leave the UP until 1980 when The Rock died. The "Beer Train" also had some very unique power on it. An unpatched BN SD70MAC and a patched ATSF GP60M.
