Sunday, July 9, 2006 - After spending a few days running between Grand Junction and the mines on the North Fork Branch, UP 1989 (Search Photo Gallery) is on its way back to Denver. The Rio Grande Heritage Unit made two rounds trips between Junction and the mines at the end of the North Fork Branch. After its second run, it was removed from the shuttle power and placed on the point of the MRONY-09.
Depending on conditions (there have been lots of delays on the western slopes due to the rain we've been receiving lately), the train should arrive in North Yard sometime tomorrow morning. Whether it will be before or after sunrise is anyones guess!
