Friday, February 16, 2007 - Yep, it was great to see while it lasted. SKTX 289 had some serious bearing issues (as I understand it) that took it out of the game for the last two weeks. The consequence, of course, was that UP 1989 (Search Photo Gallery) was the leader on the train for a total of six runs. Those days are behind us now as SKTX 289 was finally repaired at the shops in Burnham this week. The 289 passed its load bearing tests and was released from the shops and moved over to Union Station last night. Looks like UP 1989 (Search Photo Gallery) will be back on the Joint on night shift once again.
This morning, on my way into work, I got a few shots of the Ski Train sans-1989. While the Heritage Unit looked right at home on the point of the train, it is good to have all three F40PH's back in charge of train carrying ~800 skiers headed for the high country.
