Overview
|
The sidings of Tolland and East Portal would be connected, creating either two main tracks, or an extremely long (3+ mile) siding on the Moffat Tunnel Sub.
|
Purpose
|
Allow multiple westbounds to "queue up" in line between Tolland and East Portal while waiting for eastbound coming out of the tunnel. This would allow trains to more quickly move west through the tunnel as it vented. (Webmaster's Note: This is obviously a smaller version of the "Second Main Track - Rollins to East Portal" project).
