Riding on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge, the train is about to pass underneath US-550 about 15 miles west (north) of Durango. This is a good spot for photos of the train (from the outside) as you can get some elevation.

The San Luis and Rio Grande operates out of Alamosa on what used to be Rio Grande trackage. The railroad runs east from Alamosa to Walsenburg where it interchanges with Union Pacific. It also runs south out of Alamosa to Antonito. Here, a former Espee B30-7 sits in the yard at Alamosa, now under the ownership of the SLRG.
