The unit has been sitting on the east side of the roadhouse for most of that time. However, just this summer, it was moved to a new location. Nearly 50 years after its original build date, BNSF 1660 is still in service and working daily. Running a local may not be as prestigious as train it once ran, but it is great so many of this classic EMD units are still on the rails. The reference to the train being "well-blocked" means that there are groups of cars meant to be together and will likely remain together for their duration here at Coors. Today's train also has a pair of spartan cab unit that will be used on the Golden local for the next week. The local runs east out of the upper yard Monday through Friday. The Sunday afternoon Beer Run crosses over Clear Creek as it makes creeps west. It will soon stop to align a derail and a few switches before entering yard track 3. Inbound trains head to one yard or the other at Terrill Jct. Today's train is heading for the south yard, so it took a left turn at Terrill Jct and paralleled Eldridge Road before crossing over CO-58. When it was moved, it had been patched and held a UP number. The folks at the museum worked quickly and did a fantastic job restoring the number on the engineer's side of the cab, as well as the number boards! The Golden Switch is making a reverse move (away from the grade crossing) to spot a string of cars. The train just clear the crossing and the conductor waves cars across. Once the train clears the grade crossing, the train will make a reverse move to spot the cars on another track. In another week, shots of the switch at the end of the day will likely not be possible as the sun will already be set with the end of Daylight Savings Time.
