This is one of 35 F7As that have managed to avoid the scrapper and have been preserved out of the 3,856 originally built (2,393 F7As + 1,463 F7Bs). That's just under 1% of F7s, just under 1.5% of F7As that have been preserved. Anyway, the F7A was the 84th "car" in BNSF's HDENLAU this morning. The sun finally broke through the clouds to offer up some excellent light of this southbound BNSF ballast train as it comes through Louisville. However, for reasons unknown, it was pulled off its train and stayed the night in Cheyenne. It then made a run down the Front Range Sub in fantastic afternoon light on this day instead! This is a relatively new overpass, constructed to eliminate the need for cars to cross the tracks at a grade crossing. Here, the Longmont Turn is on the move with a GP39V on the point. The "Oakways" came onto BN's property in 1987, numbered as EMD 9000 to EMD 9099. Today, all things considered, their paint still looks pretty darn good!
