Not sure where this manifest is coming from, but there are a few possibilities. Most likely is that it is either the MCYNY (coming from Cheyenne, WY), or the MNPNY (coming from North Platte, NE). The crew has received their warrant, and is just waiting for a UP train to clear the diamond so UP DS-378 can get them a light to cross the diamond and proceed north toward Cheyenne and beyond. For the past decade, the EPA has mandated extremely strict emissions standards (known as "Tier-4" standards) for diesel-electric locomotives. Both Union Pacific and GE have locomotives that meet the requirements, but neither has experienced great success with sales in the United States. These units are more expensive up front, more expensive to maintain, and tend to be less reliable due to their complexity. Consequently, while a handful are in service, most railroads have instead created their own in-house rebuild program for older locomotives that are exempt, rather than spend extra money on purchases. Rennicks Yard represents BNSF's entire intermodal presence in Denver. Granted, it is not an insignificant yard, seen here form the north end. An EMD F7 with Minnesota Zephyr livery is headed to the Inland Northwest Railroad Museum in Reardon, WA. The unit was delivered to the Spokane, Portland, and Seattle Railway in 1953. It then, of course, went to Burlington Northern's roster after the merger in 1970. BN sold it to the Cadillac and Lake City Railway, which then sold it to the Colorado and Eastern Railway. It then wound up in the hands of the Minnesota Zephyr in Stillwater, MN, a tourist operation. That operation ended in 2008, and the unit went to the San Luis and Rio Grande. Finally, the unit was sold (or donated) to the museum in Reardon and is making its way there on BNSF's HDENLAU (Denver-Laurel), seen here by UP's North Yard. The unit is now number RPCX 804. This F7 was delivered to the SP&S in 1953, and is now headed back to Washington to the Inland Northwest Railroad Museum. Hopefully, it'll be restored in its SP&S paint. The train just passed through a Form B. You can see the "yellow/red" board on the side of the track, which indicates the Form B starts a mile to the south. The train is passing by Church Ranch "Lake", which dried up years ago and has really just been a field for quite some time. This F7A, which has changed hands through several different railroads in its 73 years, is headed for the Inland Northwest Railroad Museum in Reardon, WA. Hopefully, once there, it will eventually be restored to its originally Spokane, Portland, and Seattle paint scheme. This is one of 35 F7As that have managed to avoid the scrapper and have been preserved out of the 3,856 originally built (2,393 F7As + 1,463 F7Bs). That's just under 1% of F7s, just under 1.5% of F7As that have been preserved. Anyway, the F7A was the 84th "car" in BNSF's HDENLAU this morning.
