It appears that the units are going to pick up a string of hoppers from the Intermountain Power yard. Intermountain Power is planning to stop using coal by the end of 2025. When that happens, it will mean a further (and more significant) decrease of coal trains on Soldier Summit and in the Utah desert. This coal empty is actually tied down on main one between the crossovers of Ironton and Springville. The crew stopped the train and manually applied the handbrake on the engines and several hoppers before a bus came and picked the up.
