BNSF's Denver to Provo is descending the roughly 2% grade above Gilluly. There is a nine mile stretch of track between Soldier Summit and Gilluly in which there are no sidings and no crossovers. The train has covered around six miles of that trackage, with just a few more curves and loops before reaching Gilluly.

BNSF 9217 is now in full dynamics, descending on Main 1 toward the east end of Gilluly. Similarly to Big Ten Curve in Colorado, the loops around Gilluly mean that, at some point, any train is going to be in fantastic light, even if for a short period of time.

The engineering behind the loops around Gilluly are as amazing, if not more amazing, than Big Ten Curve in Colorado on the Moffat. Similar to Big Ten, there are spots near Gilluly where you can see both the head end and tail end of the same train in the frame. Such is the case here, as you can see the three units on the head end and tail end of the coal load.

From Soldier Summit to the middle of Gilluly, it's about five miles on US-6. The tracks, however, have to take a far less direct route, The rails follow some very clever engineering of loops to decrease the grade of the track, and it is roughly nine rail miles from Soldier Summit to the middle of Gilluly. Here, BNSF's Valmy coal load is descending the grade on Main 1. Far down below, above the power, you can see the bridge where US-6 crosses the track in the middle of Gilluly.
