Once the eastbound it is meeting gets closer, the dispatcher will instruct the train to pull in to the clear. Piles of new ties lay along the right of way, ready to be installed. By the end of the year, the east end of the siding will likely be behind the photographer, as BNSF intends to lengthen the siding in 2015. A westbound coal load has just cleared that dirt road, and is slowing to come to a stop. The train is taking the siding at Roggen, but will hang out the east end for a bit so as not to block the grade crossing in town. There are miles and miles of ties along the right-of-way as BNSF is investing roughly $140 million in the Brush Sub in 2015. In addition to tie replacement, BNSF is extending the sidings of Bijou, Crest, Hudson, Messex, Roggen, and Tonville. They will also start on projects to extend Barr, Keensburg, New Hillrose, and Wiggins, although those projects won't be completed until 2016. It has also been suggested that BNSF plans to add a second main track to some (or even all) of the Brush Sub in the next few years to increase fluidity on the line.
