Can you imagine how happy these passengers are making their way through this snow inside the comfort of the Ski Train rather than trying to drive over Berthoud Pass!

I'm about to get nailed by shooting snow and I know it! But that's okay as the shot turned out quite nice! The rail isn't quite visible beneath the freshly fallen snow just east of 72nd Avenue in Arvada as the Ski Train makes its was east.

Ten inches of snow have fallen here since the Ski Train headed west earlier in the day! This fairly common spring blizzard doesn't faze the Ski Train as it plows east toward Union Station.

The tail end of the Ski Train as it hustles its way through a spring blizzard. The train is on the main track about halfway through Leyden.

Only four runs left for the 2008-2009 Winter Ski Train and Colorado is trying to send it off with a bang! Snow starts falling at a rate a bit higher then an inch per hour as the Ski Train charges west through Leyden.

The eastbound Ski Train rounds the curve just west of Leyden (and the bridge over Indiana Street). The train would get clear signals for the remainder of the journey in to town.

Okay, it is time to get a little bit artsy again. Not far from the west switch of Leyden, I setup for the eastbound Ski Train. Using the 300mm lens, I focused on the rail in the foreground while the Ski Train approached in the distance. This is the result...

The eastbound Ski Train passes the (Rio Grande style) intermediate signal at MP 9.8 as it moves east at track speed. The crossing in the foreground is for Kipling Parkway.

Ten miles away from Union Station and this Saturday version of the Ski Train is running right on time on its journey home. This shot was taken at Kipling Parkway, just west of the intermediate signal at MP 9.8.

A train full of tired skiers is only about 13 miles away from Union Station in Denver. I think this shot worked really well as a black and white photo.

UP's eastbound MRONY (Roper, UT to North Yard, CO) manifest typically arrives in Denver in the early morning hours. However, this particular train left Roper much later than normal. Consequently, it is late afternoon when it is arriving in town.

Some nice lighting and clear skies on this Friday the 13th! The Ski Train has a clear signal as it makes its way west out of Leyden in western Arvada.

At the west switch of Leyden, the Ski Train makes its way west about a half hour after sunrise. The train had to run through the siding as a coal load was waiting on the main track.

As a westbound coal empty charges west out of Leyden, a group of horses run for cover back to the barn! The Denver skyline is visible in the distance.

A look at the eastbound Ski Train at Chemical, but from a slightly different angle! No problem getting a shot from the north side of the tracks on a cloudy day like this one.
