The train encountered a bit of a delay at Broomfield. First, the train had to cut the Nickel Street crossing, then it had to wait for two southbounds, then it had to put its train back together, and finally, it had to contact mechanical to solve an alarm issue on its DPU! Regardless, here FURX 7223 (ex-BNSF) leads the HDENLAU north at MP 12. Note the third unit, a Montana Rail Link F45XR #392! Extra 6311 west (north) and Extra 6575 east (south) struck each other directly underneath the US-36 overpass shown in this image. The crewman on Extra 6311 read the incorrect train orders and the train departed Clear Creek before Extra 6575 had arrived. The resulting explosion melted the bridge!
