One of two trains that transport the greatest show on earth. The Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey circus train is on the rails 11 months out of year, running coast to coast. The train is arriving in Denver as the show opens in less than 36 hours.

The first pictures I've taken of UP 3985 since it ran on a double-headed Cheyenne Frontier Days train in 2005. The UP steam guys did a fantastic job getting her ready to hit the rails again. The engine is leading the greatest show on earth (the circus train) and is about to pass underneath E-470 south of Brighton.

UP 3985, which has been "in the shop" for the past five years or so, has been put back together, been given a spot on shine, and is out running the mainline! UP coordinated with Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus to have UP 3985 lead the circus train south on the Greeley Sub. UP 3985 leading a 63-car passenger train (okay, some freight mixed in...but still). What a site!

The sun is getting closer and closer to the western horizon as the steam train makes its way closer to Denver. The train passes beneath E-470 in the distance, just south of Brighton.
