UP 6230 was delivered in May 1995 as SP 150. The train is also passing by the Suncor oil refineries. In the world of expensive Tier-4 compliant units from EMD and GE (Wabtec), most railroads are starting to focus money on rebuilds rather than new planes. After the rebuild, UP 5872 also got the latest UP paint scheme, moving the American flag from the long hood to the nose, and removing the wings from the front of the nose entirely. Black and white, with a bit of a contrast bump, actually can be quite helpful. I was able to set up for this shot just south of Platteville, with four GEs on the point. But this would be the last shot I was able to get prior to the train arriving in Denver. Since PSR (Precision Scheduled Railroading) has somewhat taken over several railroads, there are more "mixed" trains.
