Less than five minutes before the sun peaks over the Book Cliffs to the east, BNSF's Denver, CO to Provo, UT manifest has a clear signal at the east switch of Solitude. This is the first train to run over these tracks since a coal empty, seven hours earlier! The desert doesn't get much action these days.

The signal for the mainline at the east end of Solitude is right in between the mainline (on the left) and the siding (on the right).

It is about 20 minutes before sunrise at the east switch of Solitude in the Utah Desert. The dwarf signal remains on at all times at this location, whether there is a train present or not.

It is right around 11:30pm as an eastbound UP coal load makes its way across the Utah desert. The train is empty and will be loaded on the North Fork branch in western Colorado.
