I sincerely hope that the train will run for another 69 seasons! The train holds on the siding at Fraser for four to five hours during the day while waiting to pick up skiers back at Winter Park between 3:30pm and 4:00pm. GE and EMD competed for the business and GE ultimately won with the P42DC. However, Amtrak did take a handful of F59PH's (EMDs answer to the F40PH). It is a very long, straight shot. In this picture, you can see the clear intermediate signal as well as the signal at the west end of Fraser. Rumor has it that one of UP's Board Members was a fan (or perhaps even worked for) the CNW, which is likely why this is the second heritage unit chosen for the trip.
