As this eastbound coal train slowly makes its way further out onto the plains, the Rocky Mountains slowly slip away over the horizon. However, at this spot just west of Bennett, the peaks still protrude over the top of the horizon. This coal train is running 2x1 - 2 units on the point and 1 DPU on the tail end. This is the typical configuration for all eastbound coal loads on the Limon Sub.

This shot pretty well says "welcome to the plains", don't you think? It is the first day of Spring and crops are starting to turn green! This coal train is between Watkins and Strasburg.

Light is fading quickly and the ISO on the camera is getting bumped up just as fast! This UP unit pipe train is being led by an all-BNSF consist. The BNSF units would ultimately be removed in Denver before the train continued west to Empire, CO on the Craig Branch.

A tri-window SD60M and an SD70ACe lead the westbound MSIDV-18 across the plains of eastern Colorado on the KP Line. The train is roughly in between Strasburg and Denver. It will head into the siding at Mesa to meet an eastbound coal load.
