BNSF's HDENLAU had a rare treat on this particular morning. A Zebra-striped full body Canadian National SD60F was included in the consist. Canadian national is the only railroad that ordered several full body units from EMD and GE after 1970.

On a rather crummy weather morning, BNSF's daily HDENLAU (Denver, CO to Laurel, MT) freight has just left Denver and is approaching the 80th Avenue grade crossing in Westminster.

Mason Street! Honest to goodness street running at its best. BNSF's daily Laurel, MT to Denver, CO manifest creeps down the center of Mason Street in downtown Ft Collins.

Sitting in the yard in Ft Collins is this pair of Great Western GP9's. They certainly have seen better days and could use a fresh coat of paint!

Any guesses where this shot was taken!? The Longmont Switch, short one unit, has arrived at North Yard in Fort Collins with a string of cars. These cars will be dropped off here for interchange with the Great Western. Typically, the Longmont Switch would have two units, but the second unit (a GP60M) was not cooperating and was left in Longmont.

A freshly painted rebuild GP40 (now a GP40-2R) is the sole power on the Longmont Switch. This unit was built many years ago as CB&Q 177! And a word of warning to the pickup...watch you don't swerve off the road! BNSF's Front Range Sub runs right up the middle of Mason Street in downtown Fort Collins.

Mason Street in Fort Collins is true street running. It can be difficult to shoot northbounds though and they are moving with the sun almost always behind them! Such is the case here as the Longmont Switch (running with a single rebuilt GP40) proceeds cautiously near the north end of Mason Street. Cars continue to drive along either side of the train.

That unit on the point kind of looks like a CEFX SD90MAC leaser, but in fact it is one of the dirtiest Warbonnet's I have ever seen. BNSF 8230, an SD75M, leads the northbound HDENLAU-24 through Westminster near 80th Avenue on its journey northward.

The southbound Laurel to Denver train is led by two SD40-2s (a yellow bonnet and a green and white BN) as well as a Heritage 2 B40-8W as the train approaches the grade crossing at 72nd Avenue in Westminster, CO. At this point, the crew on board can see the distance signal just east of Federal Blvd.
