With three covered hoppers freshly picked up from the aggregate plant at the north end of the Rocky Flats Industrial Spur, the West Local is currently wying on the Rocky Flat Wye so it can back down to the mainline at Rocky. Once upon a time, the Rocky Flat Plant would have been in the background of this shot. The brakeman is on the ground, ready to throw the switch for the south leg of the wye.

The aggregate plant that the West Local is heading for, Trinity Lightweight, is just visible on the left side of the frame. The local will drop off seven covered hoppers and will likely pick up a few as well before returning to North Yard.

The West Local pushed away from the camera as it passes by a few companies, mainly home and commercial landscaping, as it slowly makes it way to the aggregate company at the far end of the Rocky Flat Industrial Lead.

The West Local backs up across the (former) west entrance to Rocky Flats. It is now used as the entrance to a few local companies onsite. If you look closely, you'll notice the (Moffat) mainline at Plain about 1/3 of the way up the mountain in the distance!

The West Local slows in preparation for hooking on to a trio of covered hoppers, loaded with aggregate by Texas Industries Inc. Note that the second hopper is of Chicago Northwestern heritage.

For several months, the West Local was not running. Apparently, flood waters had caused some damage along the Rocky Flats Industrial Lead. Texas Industries thought UP should repair the track and UP thought Texas Industries should. Consequently, the local stopped running and, during that time, Texas Industries trucked their aggregate to Loveland and loaded it on BNSF. It appears that the tracks on the Rocky Flats Industrial Lead has been repaired (although I have no clue by whom) and this is the third week the local has run since restarting.

The West Local slowly descends down a fairly steep grade at the north end of the Rocky Flats Industrial Lead. The brakeman is standing by to guide the train as it will pick up hoppers from Texas Industries Inc., an aggregate company.

There was a time in the not-too-distance past that you would have found Rio Grande geeps running on the West Local. Those days are gone now, however, as is evident in this picture. Not even UP units are being used on the West Local right now, as a trio of geeps leased from "Helm Leasing" head north on the Rocky Flats Industrial Lead.

The Rocky Flats Industrial Lead perhaps looks a little worse for the wear! Lots of rain in 2015 has led to lots of growth. The West Local (currently just light power) progresses north toward the north end of the spur where they will pick up a handful of covered hoppers from the only customer remaining for the West Local to serve.

The West Local is passing by the wye at Rocky Flats. The light power is approaching the grade crossing that once led to the Rocky Flats plant. If you look, you can see part of a cattle guard in the foreground.

A trio of Helm Leasing geeps traverse the Rocky Flats Industrial Lead just west of the location of where Rocky Flats once stood. This is the West Local and it is headed for the aggregate company at the end of the 4-mile-long spur.
