On a partly cloudy morning, a cloud has moved in to cast a shadow on the scene as an ES44AC leads an eastbound coal train toward the York Street grade crossing. The train is leaving the Belt Industrial Lead behind and will soon turn east toward the Limon Sub.

A northbound UP local (whose last car is just visible on the right side of the shot) has just cleared the north end of the 36th street yard. A coal load with an eastern leader is pulling toward the yard from the Belt Industrial Lead.

A panel on the battery door of UP 4357 is in primer gray for some reason. This manifest - the MGRDV - is about to enter UP's 36th Street Yard, which is scheduled to be moved north to the Fort Lupton area sometime in the 2009-2010 time frame. Two strands of baretables (empty TOFC cars) are tied down off to the right.

Just outside of UP's 36th Street Yard in Denver, the southbound MGRDV is approaching on the inbound main. Commerce City's oil refinery can be seen protruding up in the background.

A roster shot of UP 2002 which reads "Salt Lake 2002, light the fire within" on the long hood. UP 2002 and UP 2001 (click here) were painted in this highly unique scheme in late October 2001 to pull the Olympic Torch around much of the west part of the country! Five years later, the units have not yet been repainted.
