It is a very long, straight shot. In this picture, you can see the clear intermediate signal as well as the signal at the west end of Fraser. GE and EMD competed for the business and GE ultimately won with the P42DC. However, Amtrak did take a handful of F59PH's (EMDs answer to the F40PH).
